Teaching is a wonderful experience! My teaching style is laid-back, I'd say. I like having conversations in order to determine how someone learns. I think people learn best when discussing the material and really think it out before they start creating something. Guiding a student down the path of their own learning style is important because they will need those skills in the future when they go off to college or start a career on their own. I will provide students with the tools they need to succeed today and in the future!
I attended the University of North Dakota for 4 years and in that time received a BA in Anthropology which has provided me the experience and knowledge of helping people in holistic ways. My background in Atmospheric Sciences gives me a good base in science and math. I feel my skills will allow me to tutor with both science and math classes, including Calculus I and II classes. I have spent over a year at Project for Pride for Learning in Minneapolis tutoring low income people on basic and moderate computer skills and job searching advice when I was an volunteer there from May 2008 to July 2009.
I have a positive approach to teaching. I am very patient when I go through the lessons and go back and review any older material if it is needed in order to grasp the current lesson of the day. I work hard to make the content stick and I always enjoy to see that light of realization in their eyes when they grasp the concept I am teaching them.
