I've also finished the ASL Studies program at Frederick Community College where I graduated with Honors and also made the Deans' list 3x. I've taken every ASL class through Hagerstown Comm.College and DeafNet, along with the Interpreting classes through DeafNet. I've also taken Religious Signing,gesture class, Deaf history, Deaf community, Deaf Culture. I have done some church Interpreting as well. I do sub for the elementary schools, prefer lower grades.

During these years at Montgomery College I have volunteered for many interpreting opportunities. I have interpreted two movies for my professor, interpreted presentations lead by guest speakers at Montgomery College and I interpreted a musical called Breast In Show (October 2014). I graduated in 2008 and i have been tutoring for many years. I got my masters degree in tutoring in 2010 and have helped people who have a disability and they ended up getting 3 degrees. I have been to night school and Saturday school to teach me these things. I get personal lessons from a family member that has done way to many classes to learn this stuff.
I ask the kid many questions about what they are learning and I give them advice on how to get better at it. I tell them to go over there notes every night.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I've been tutoring friends and family for years! I love teaching sign language because it is a beautiful language that is easy for people to learn, especially children. Even babies can learn how to sign! I am studying to become an ASL interpreter, and have completed ASL levels 1, 2, and 3 with a GPA of 3.8. I communicate with Deaf people on a regular basis using sign language.

I like to teach through repetition and practice. The only way to learn something is by learning the concept and working with it over and over again until it is stuck in your mind. I often achieve this with flashcards and organizing by colors. Colors can help categorize different concepts by associating aspects of a certain concept with one color, and aspects of another concept with a different color.
I've been tutoring friends and family for years! I love tutoring because it is so rewarding to see my lessons help students achieve better grades. I have a BS degree in Missions w/ a Deaf emphasis. I have been signing now for 6 years and have been interpreting for 4 years. I am also going to Community College in Baltimore County to get a certificate of completion for finishing their ASL (American sign language) program. I have experience with teaching children to sign to deaf people. They enjoy my classes. I have been known to immerse myself in the Deaf community.
I adapt my teaching to meet the needs of the student. I am extremely patient and very creative when it comes to teaching. If you are a visual learner you'll definitely learn quickly with me. I'm visual too! However if you are not visual that is perfectly fine too!
