My comments on tutoring Statistics : I can help with Probability and Statistics including Regression analysis.

Lead the student to find the right answer himself or herself if possible.
I have done private tutoring of high school students in math from pre-algebra to calculus and in other subjects. I have also home schooled adopted daughters from lower grades to high school level, including teaching English as a second language. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant in an electric machinery laboratory for non-electrical engineering majors. My own experience with standardized tests includes having taken the ACT in 1971 with scores ranging from 22 (76th percentile) in English to 31 (97th percentile) in math with a composite of 27 (93rd percentile) and having passed the GRE in 1975. Experienced Tutor, Degree in Math!

I helped many students who had previously given up hope to pass the CLAST exam and I taught the math portion of an SAT prep course through FGCU's CAA. I tutored LD students through Adaptive Services at FGCU I taught labs at FGCU for intermediate and college algebra, statistics and business calculus. I taught AP Calculus and AP Statistics at a private school. I taught Pre-calc and Algebra II through Lee County School District.
Practice-Theory-Practice. I try to stay very focused on doing examples and practice problems. Some theory is necessary for a deep understanding, but it has to come at the right time. The student first needs some practice or at least an attempt to appreciate the process involved in solving a problem. Then I try and bring to light any issues and cover some theory. Then we do more practice.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching subjects in which I feel comfortable with. I am self confident and positive in the things that I do, and when I tutor I make sure this confidence is transferred to the other person. I am patient and place a lot of emphasis in motivating. I feel that all kids have great potential in different subject areas; unfortunately, many times that potential is not fully developed or developed at all, due to the lack of self confidence or a friendly sincere voice that tells them they can do it.
When I came to this country, one of my goals was to succeed and the first thing that I needed to do was to learn the English language the correct way. I enrolled in ESOL classes and was determined to master the language. I obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, and then a Masters degree from Phoenix University. Although my degrees are in Business Administration; ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been driven to succeed, especially in school. I graduated magna cum laude with my BA in Communication this past December. This degree increased my own ability to communicate effectively and I am now pursuing a BA in English this Fall so that I can teach high school English. I am fortunate in that I have done well in all of my general education classes, making me confident in my ability to tutor algebra I and II, geometry, chemistry, biology, earth science, and of course English, whether it be writing, reading, or grammar. This past year I have been tutoring Algebra, as well as basic math skills in order to catch my students up to their current grade level.
I have worked with children for what seems like my whole life, mostly through church. I know that every child can succeed with the right help. I myself am caring, compassionate, patient, and encouraging. I believe t ... read more

For five years I taught middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and currently am a teaching assistant at Florida Gulf Coast University in College Algebra and Statistics.
My teaching style is conversational and relaxed. I am an expert at overcoming school-related anxiety, especially related to math. I have excellent listening and communication skills and quickly pick up what my students needs are. A Little Bit About Me...

Communication of ideas is key to helping the student learn what is being taught to them. If your student understands and grasps ideas-concepts-formulas, reinforce them with exercises. But you must be keenly aware if they have difficulty, then you must help them to overcome problems by solving problems and awakening the power of thought.
My name is James and I am currently working for AXA-Advisors on a non-contractual basis enrolling public school employees into 403(b) retirement savings plans. The school year now-ending frees time for me to pursue a summer tutoring job for more personal income. I am interested in your position as a math/finance tutor. I have been working in the banking field for over 15 years since I graduated with a degree in business. In Jan. 2009 I was laid off from a banking job for the second time. I am doing a career change to teaching. I have been hired as football coach at Estero High School, I will be working as a teacher this fall 2009. I have been fingerprinted by Lee County School and I am cleared to be employed. I have a son that is 8 years old I help with his home work every night. Last year in the second grade they wanted him to stay back, I said I would help him. This year in second grade he is making E & S Honor Roll.
My teaching style would be the same way I teach my son. I give him the opportunity to learn. I work with him. I put the time in to help him. I take the time to help him, and if he get a problem wrong I help him correct it.

With degrees from one of the nations top universities, I have many experiences working with students. I have worked with students through Jumpstart (an AmeriCorps program), as a youth camp specialist, and as a after school program coordinator at an elementary school in Naples. I am currently working on a graduate degree in School Counseling. I believe that helping youth succeed to be their best is very important and must be a priority.
It is important for all children to have an equal opportunity to learn. This means that I must teach in various styles or to multiple intelligences so that each student is able to understand materials taught. In the appropriate environment and with appropriate materials, it is possible that each child can be a success, given that the teacher understands that not all students learn in the same manner.

I enjoy the challenge of bringing the best out of a student's ability. My demeanor in the classroom is very calm and patient, which creates a relaxed atmosphere. I am a firm believer in keeping the students involved during my class and will frequently call on students to participate in solving problems. Every student has the ability to do well in school. I think it is just a matter of how badly they want to succeed and as a teacher I try to tap into their potential.
I graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in secondary math education. During my internship in the fall of 2006, I taught Algebra 2 Honors and Geometry. Upon graduation, I was hired to teach Algebra IB at Lakeland High School and taught there for the spring semester of 2007. I cannot say that I am set in any teaching style. I am green and haven’t exactly got a teaching style. I know through years of schooling and interacting with peers people learn differently and do better or worse depending on the teacher they have and that teachers style. I believe teaching methods in a tutorial environment need to be adaptive to the student. You’ll need to communicate with the student and feel him/her out and see how he/she learns best. I am patient and confident in my ability to be able to help others learn. My sister had a learning disability and I enjoyed helping her get through school as we grew up. I think it is essential that a student has confidence in himself/herself and believes they can do it.
While I attended Auburn University and studied civil engineering I found myself enjoying group projects and helping other students get through the difficult curricu ... read more
