I graduated with two bachelor degrees(in English Literature and in Theater Arts). I had planned to continue my graduate studies to obtain my Oregon Teacher's Certificate. Due to legislation, there was a radically decreased need for teachers. I decided after my children were grown to return to school to obtain a Masters' degree. I have been a substitute teacher in Oregon for tutoring/detention while a teacher was on medical leave, and was a teacher's aide in California. As an advanced student in highschool algebra, my teacher chose me to tutor one struggling athlete and one girl trying to raise her B to an A for acceptance to an Ivy League University. After graduation, I taught on a transitional teaching license. I taught in the Woodburn School District. I then went to Japan and taught English as a second language. I grew up between Bolivia and the United States and speak Spanish and English fluently. I took statistics in university and taught math in Spanish from time to time as a substitute for the Woodburn School District. In Woodburn I taught a self contained classroom for a while. I had to teach ELL students Social Studies, Math, Language arts in both Spanish and English and science. As a substitute I taught all kinds of classrooms including all subject matters.
