A Little Bit About Me...

In teaching I am basically a generalist and humanist. My background is in mathematics and the sciences, but with a solid foundation in the humanities. Practically, I have never stopped learning something new and in addition to my formal credential I have done university course work in languages, forestry, animal husbandry, and sports training. I believe my teaching style is one in which I help students make associations by way of discovery and interconnections. Much of mathematics can describe the natural world and I attempt to make mathematics both interesting and fund by drawing on these associations.

The learning styles of students vary widely; however, I believe all students respond to an approach which includes kindness, respect, persistence, and the acceptance of the student as an individual. I believe in encouraging students to ask questions, and showing them where to find the answers.
Although it took me 15 years to obtain my B.S. in Business Management, I do not view that as a disadvantage.
