I have been an educator for 24 years. I have never thought about doing anything else because I love teaching. I've been told that I have a way with students that makes them feel comfortable and confident. I have taught everything from K thru 8th grade and I esp. love middle school. Extra curricular activities are my strong point and I have been involved in many throughout the years. My experience includes time in suburban Florida as well as inner city schools in upstate NY.
I like to use different methods to help students learn. I am a hands-on teacher who believes in having students discover their own successful learning styles. Students learn the best by doing, so, I try to let them figure things out while guiding them through instead of having them memorize rote information. Learning becomes permanent only when it is understood. I am a firm believer in Life-Long Learning.

I have always had a passion for education. Coming from a large family, I was always helping my younger siblings with their homework and teaching "school" in my mom's study on the weekends. I attended the rigorous International Baccalaureate program at my high school and moved away from home to attend a prestigious liberal arts college. After graduating from Smith College in May I moved to Boston to work at a public charter high school where I worked with a large and diverse student population. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in journalism from Oswego State University. While in school I studied psychology and child development as well as great works of literature. I have always had a knack for grammar and spelling and I enjoy proofreading documents and helping others to develop their ideas.
