A Little Bit About Me...

I believe there are no bad students, just bad methods of teaching. Therefore, I have sought out the best methods of teaching to aid my students in understanding a subject, building on the basics. I have used these methods successfully as a homebound instructor for middle school and high school students. I also have experience working with ‘learning disabled’ and remedial level students in the third grade. Currently, I tutor community college students in Algebra and assist with English Composition proof-reading.

I don't believe in giving a student the answers to their questions. Rather, I think it is important to help them find the answers themselves--understanding the process will enable them to perform on their own. For example, rather than editing a student's paper, I will go through it line by line and have them help me find the errors.
I have a very strong background in writing. My experience includes my graduate research and thesis, news writing for a tv station, in addition to 6 years of writing for academia. I spent a semester in Pau, France and can tutor beginning to intermediate level students. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA in high school, college and graduate school.

Since earing my degree in CIS I have had 10 years of industry experience as well as having worked as a substitute teacher in both the Galesburg (CUSD #205, 200-2001) and Peoria (District 150,2007-Present) School Districts.
