My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : Reading comprehension takes a lot of work. Luckily for me, my mother was there

I have tutored adults for free when they have needed a good eye to evaluate their work. Many adults can not spell and have trouble building a basic sentence. I am good at proofreading and helping the thoughts to flow better. I ask a lot of questions in order to help the student understand the thought process.
I prefer the style of patience and hands on. No computers, no spell check. the only way to learn is to do it yourself.

A Little Bit About Me...

School has been the most important structure in my life since I was a kid. My parents taught me that school comes first above anything else. I took their statement very seriously. I earned a 3.9 GPA at my university with Summa Cum Laude honors. I was a dedicated student who wants to help others succeed in school. I am a babysitter, which comes hand in hand with tutoring. I often help the kids with homework when I'm babysitting. I help my old high school speech and debate team. I like working one-on-one with students, helping them to identify what they already know about a subject or topic and then logically building that up, step-by-step, into what they need to know. Finding a way to explain a concept in terms each individual can understand is the challenge. When students have difficulty in a class, it is often because the textbook doesn't speak to them and the teacher doesn't have time to explain it individually to each and every student.
