My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style. I taught and tutored ESL two years before entering law school. I hae taught college classes as an adjunct and later FT professor at Penn College for 25 years. Every job I've ever had has been one where I teach. I had a job 3 years teaching ballroom dance, 2 years I coached T-ball, and for 4 years I've tutored math. As a supervisor and trainer in the military, it was my responsibility to train the new individuals that came into the job. There was a lot of studying material that I constantly had to sit down and go over with them. We made flashcards, took notes, made up quizzes, did verbal question and answers, etc. I actually used to tutor math in High School when I was in an advanced Calculus class and have helped many friends with their college math.
