I derive great satisfaction in helping young people fulfill their dreams and find their voice. I have a sincere and patient style and can work with all types of personalities, especially teenagers. My comments on tutoring Calculus II : I have tutored college students in Calculus.

I have over 15 years as a succesful instructor and tutor (middle school, high school, under graduate and graduate students)of mathematics, computer science (computer programing)and business courses including accounting, finance, statistics, economis, medical dosage calculations, hospital information statistics, etc. I also founded my Company, Alpha Omega Education and Training Systems,Ltd., in 2001. This Company develops interactive math education software for schools, collges and individuals.
Punctual - prepared and professional. I look at learning rep. styles of students (pictorial, word or kinesthehic). I try to make the learning experience as painless as possible (especially math). I start with pre-tests to gauge where a student is at, then follow-up with teaching content and finish with a post-test to gauge learing objectives that have been met. More About This Tutor...

I have taught computer science courses in business college, and I taught algebra, calculus, and statistics as a graduate student. I remain convinced of the necessity of obtaining basic math skills for success in today's world, and I spend a lot of time maintaining my own skills in math and computers. I am currently spending 8-12 hours per day, mostly programming vectors and mathematical functions as spreadsheet macros.
I try to find a common, basic level of understanding with the student and then show how a few key insights can help the student broaden her/his knowledge. In math, for example, this typically means showing how elementary concepts can be applied to simplify more complex problems, such as showing how such things as the distributive and associative properties are being used in solving equations, sometimes in a context where these things are often glossed over.

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned three degrees in five years, all in quantitative disciplines. The range of material covered by those degrees includes mathematics and statistics, economics, and some computer programming. Beyond my education background, I have five years of experience tutoring. In high school, I tutored children in reading and writing and other high school students in mathematics and Latin. In college, I have one additional year of experience tutoring introductory calculus.
I believe the key to learning is to break complex concepts down into manageable sizes. The goal of tutoring is to relate new or difficult material to simple ideas that are already familiar to the student. Above all else, it is important to communicate with the student to understand where the breakdown in understanding is and then develop an approach that aids in comprehension.

A Little Bit About Me...

I fully love my architecture career, but I have never lost my love for math and science! Every day I use basic math, geometry, and even physics (to calculate structural components). I am forced to design creative solutions and think outside the box. I hold a 4 year BS and a 5 year Bachelor of Architecture, and I have tutored on and off over the years. I have also taught Sunday School for the last 3 years, which has increased my ability to explain complicated issues in simple, understandable, and relevant ways.
There is a way to reach every child. It is my responsibility to figure out how an individual child learns best, and then use it to show him learing is fun! I enjoy challenging a child to think - to think more creativly, tieing together concepts to gain understanding. There is nothing like seeing a child grasp a new concept, or watching their eyes light up as something w ... read more

Since leaving my position in biotech, I have been occasionally tutoring high school and undergraduate college students. Most of my experience is in math and physics. I earned a BS and MS and then went to work for five years mostly in optical imaging applications. As a student seeking a MS, I also taught undergraduate physics labs.
Younger people need sometimes more than one exposure to math and the sciences. I know I did. Part of the problem is the pre anxiety associated with taking these more rigorous courses. My philosophy is to break down the subjects into digestible parts. Also I feel the student must be shown practical applications with various different resources, revealing the common threads of the processes. There is no reason math and science should be thought of as beyond the reach of any student.

I have worked in education for more than six years and am very dedicated to fostering student growth and development. I genuinely love teaching and tutoring students.
