I am a graduate level professional, who has gained a great amount of experience working with children with disabilities. I have a Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology and have worked in numerous schools to help children achieve academically. I worked as an instructional aide for three years in both special education and general education classrooms. I easily earned two Associates degrees, prior to earning my Bachelors degree, graduating Cum Laude. I excelled in Mathematics as well, and enjoy tutoring it as well. My English 101 and 102 professor encouraged me to major in English as well, but I was so involved in science classes for physical education, I opted not to add the other major. I was the president of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and a member of the USA-Today All Academic Team.

I was born into a Christian farm family in Hartford, Alabama, in 1952. After earning a B. S. in Special Education from the University of Alabama and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling from Tennessee Technological University, I taught special education classes at North Middle School in Lenoir City, Tennessee, for nine years before moving back home to take care of my parents. This is my 12th year at Enterprise High School and I am very fortunate to be the teacher of the multi-needs Special Education classroom there. My teaching-style is rigorous yet kind. My students say that no one has ever criticized their writing and thought so thoroughly and constructively. I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus. I learned from my professors at Swarthmore College (and a few at Penn) how to project a non-B.S. style, since kids tend to intuitively realize when their teacher has no idea what he/she is talking about.
