After graduating second in my class with a 3.9 GPA, I started working for the Art Institute of Chicago. Every student is different, therefore every student has different needs. Every student also can learn differently, whether it be by incorporating more or less visual learning strategies, auditory learning strategies, or using more of the "hands on" approach. Learning can be and should be fun! I love teaching a student to success and when they enjoy what they are doing they are much more likely to succeed!
As an active member of my community, in the form of pageantry, volunteering, and leadership, I have always enjoyed instructing others. Based on my past teaching experiences, I have learned that in order to motivate students to learn, it’s imperative to make connections between the curriculum and their prior experiences and interests. I believe that it is unrealistic to expect students to learn at the same rate and have identical learning styles, so teachers must differentiate their instruction to account for all types of learning abilities, levels, interests, and talents. For instance, teachers should be able and willing to plan lessons and/or assessments that allow students to utilize their own individual and unique intelligences, such as perhaps music or art.
