I have helped friends (and their children) to prepare for exams since when in high school I won various awards for my performance on exams. I won the top score for the Regents exam for Duval County in 1971 and for this I was recognized by the downtown Rotary Club. Also I won the top statewide scholarship award for the Chamber of Commerce and for the N.H.S. due to performance on exams. Also I won the Merit Scholarship award. I have only recently started to do tutoring for pay. Over the years I have helped my children, my grandchildren, and friends and others to prepare for exams ranging from kindergarten phonics up to and beyond SAT exams.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and helping others excel. I am willing to go that extra mile to get the job done and I make sure that not only a student passes but they learn along the way. I have several styles of teaching and I like to keep it interesting by changing up the way that I present the material to keep the student engaged and interested. I like for the students to participate, communicate and provide feedback. This gives me the opportunity to see what they know and what they don't know. Also it allows me to see the growth in the student, allows me to tell whether or not they are learning, and it also allows me to know what approach to take in delivering the materials on their level in which they can understand and comprehend.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style can be described as or geared toward lecturing/disdussing or to simply put it-direct instruction. Visual and audio aids, kinesthetic materials, as well as communication are a must for me as a teacher to tackle the many different types of learning styles. Educational success is my major goal, yet reading is the key to educational success. Therefore, I must show and demonstrate effeective reading strategies to help a student become proficient in all of their areas of study. I use various methods according to the learning styles, which means that I must be able to detect the students educational needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

Problem solving in the real world. My teaching style is a philosophy that encourages students to seek out the process that works best to help he or she achieve the desired results. Knowing that each person learns in different ways I shape the lesson to appeal to the individual student.Students want and seek approval because everyone wants to receive praise for a good job. So I start with small steps no matter how big the problem. Knowing that success in the end spreads like wild fire. At the end of every lesson a lay out a plain for what will do next time so the seed can grow in the students head about the progress we've made that day and the work that's still to come.
