My comments on tutoring Marine Biology : Subject that I have taught as an elective subject.

I was employed by the Lakeland Central School District as a substitute Teacher Aide and later in a full time capacity. I worked for the OASIS Program and later at the Alternative High School. After completing my Bachelor's Degree at Concordia College, I applied for and was accepted into the New York City Teaching Fellows Program. I taught Special Education at a high needs urban high school in the Bronx. This was a challenging and rewarding experience. Many of my students continued on to post secondary schools. I am currently finishing my Master's degree program at City College of New York, expected graduation is May 2013.
I have a varied style, which is geared to the learning style of my students. I teach world to text, text to text, text to life.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like teaching one on one. This makes it easier for me to explain to the student and understand them. Smaller groups also work well for me. I was a hands on student that learned through images and repetition. I believe this is a good way to learn not memorize. If you memorize you will forget, and that is pointless in the long run.
I graduated from St. Joseph's College in spring 2009 with a BS in biology. I graduated with a 3.2 gpa. I played softball for 4 years in college and was ranked 18th in the nation in my junior year. I did research in molecular biology and wrote a thesis on polycarbonate disruption of the endocrine system. I focued on bisphenol-a and its potential disruption in children. I would say that all people are capable of learning and improving their abilities, knowledge, and skill. My experience has been that if a child, youth, or adult is given the space in which to learn, and introduced to material in a patient manner, in the style that works for them (be that through explanation or visual learning, etc) they will take the initiative to learn and grow at the pace and direction which works for them.
