Biology is one of my top subjects! Received an A in Biology at Richland Community College in 2010, and received the distinguished award "Most Outstanding Biology Student of the Year" for 2010/2011 Academic School Year within the college. I also received a B in Microbiology the same year. I plan to continue my education in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and eventually Neurobiology.

I am a visceral teacher. I like to use illustrations whenever possible, videos, photographs, drawings... I like making connections to things that may seem unrelated - I think this strengthens neuro-pathways and thought processes. I also think that laughter stimulates learning, so I like students to feel at ease - I will make myself look dumb if it will make someone laugh and relax.
I am a natural teacher - it's what I do when I'm not getting paid. I just like to share knowledge of what, why, when, where, and how. When I tutor I try and understand where they are having trouble and try to find the best way of explaining in a way that is beneficial to the student.
While at Springfield College I started tutoring some of my fellow students in the areas of math and science for a little extra cash. I have always wanted to mimic the kind of tutoring I received as a struggling math student in middle school. I was never the best at math until I started to receive tutoring and everything started to click. I truly enjoy helping children reach their full potential. I believe that children who don't understand a subject just haven't had it explained to them in their way of learning and I believe I can find their way. I use patience, understanding, and humor to ease their minds but still am able to convey a sense of high expectation of them. After earning my BS in zoology with a minor in psychology, I worked as an educator at a local zoo working with elementary aged children. This was my first experience teaching and I soon realized how fun and rewarding educating could be. I continued my education to achieve my MS in behavior, ecology, and evolution.
