When I first started college, I had no idea what to major in. I started taking creative writing and literature classes though, and found my niche in English. I enjoy writing, reading, proofreading, checking grammar and punctuation, and find myself reviewing billboards and magazines for errors. I've been able to put these skills to actual use as an instructor, tutor, and advisor for college students. I have taught Business Writing, Business Communication, and Keyboarding classes. I have also had a great deal of experience with public speaking and have played piano for more than 20 years. In the end though, it's a great joy to see a student "get it" and to help them realize their full potential.

A Little Bit About Me...

English and education have been a passion of mine for my entire life. My undergraduate experience at the University of Minnesota Morris exacerbated this characteristic. While at U of M Morris I lead several study groups as well as copy-edited for the University newspaper. Grammar, nonfiction writing as well as critical analysis of literature are my strongest talents.
As a fresh graduate I feel the need to be a part of academia. Tutoring is the perfect opportunity for me to strengthen my abilities while simultaneously helping students achieve success. A Little Bit About Me...

After receiving my BA and MA in English, I continued my education to get certification in postsecondary education as well as to receive licensure to substitute teach in Minnesota. I have been a substitute teacher for two years, and I have been with students ages 4 through 18. In addition, I was a teaching assistant for an interpersonal communication class at a college in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
