Found my passion in teaching - let me help your child!

I am a third year student studying for an Elementary Education degree through DmACC and Iowa State. I have just completed a year of Elementary Educator math courses. I have also have a degree in Practical Nursing and Limited Radiology Technology. I decided to go back to school to become an Elementary Teacher after being a nurse for several years and also ran a daycare out of my home when my kids were small. I currently work part-time as a Teacher's Associate at Ankeny Community Schools. I am looking to tutor during the summer months and possibly throughout the school year.

I graduated in December 2014 from Iowa State University with a Civil Engineering degree- 3.5 GPA honor student. Before Iowa State I went to the University of Iowa for two years to play basketball. Prior to that I went to Des Moines Christian High School. I am currently working in Des Moines. I have a passion for teaching and have tutoring experience in college. Math and science are my strengths. I can help with about any math and science up to organic chemistry (I was pre-med my first few years of college). I believe in setting goals and working to ensure they are accomplished. In my opinion, learning should never feel like a boring chore. The student should be working hard, but enjoying him or herself in the process, and this is when the most efficient and effective learning occurs. I work to impart certain values in the students I serve, including: fortitude, imagination and pride.
While I earned my bachelor's degree in communication from Loyola, I also worked as an Academic coach for high school students. As a young R.O.T.C cadet, I was very driven to excel in my college education. On my way to becoming a young Army Officer, I earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Communications and BA in Accoutning. My liberal arts educations granted me opportunities to learn and excel in many arenas such as writing, math, science, and the social sciences. I learned the art of effective communication, writing extensive essays and reports, as well as giving many speeches to audiences of various sizes.
