To be clear up front I am not a teacher. However, I have acquired valuable skills working as a highschool paraprofessional for almost eight years. I spent the majority of my days in math classes and science classes helping students and learning the subject right along with them. I also spent an hour or two every day in study hall to help students with homework (math, science, english, social studies) Aside from the practical knowledge I gained in each classroom I was able to find new and different ways over the years to help individual students with very individual needs.

During my sophomore year in high school I decided to begin tutoring ESL students. I found the ability to help others succeed very rewarding, and began tutoring fellow classmates in courses including but not limited to English, math, biology, and chemistry. As far as teaching style, I think it is important to listen to what the student really needs and adapt your teaching style based on their needs. I've learned with math especially, that you need to work a lot of different problems. However, I usually like to have the student take me through the steps as best they can and then I step in to help or possible show a simpler way to solve the problem.
