My comments on tutoring Mechanical Engineering : As I've mentioned in my description of my Civil Engineering expertise: I spent four years at the University of Florida studying Nuclear Engineering. It is very important for nuclear engineers to understand the mechanics of the materials and structures they use. As such, the same traits that make me an effective tutor in the field of Civil Engineering also make me well suited to teach Mechanical, which by-and-large encompasses the most populous and general of all the engineering disciplines. Many of the subjects applicable to Mechanical Engineering are statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and so on. These are core courses for Nuclear Engineering students to complete, and I have done so.

Greetings one and all! My name is Tristan, and I am a recent graduate of the University of Florida's College of Engineering as of August 2012. I graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Nuclear Engineering and a cumulative GPA of 3.25 (and I will tell you that I earned every point of it). I am looking forward to using my knowledge and proficiency in various fields of math and science to make your four year slog through the rigors of academia as palpable as possible. I offer flexible hours, friendly demeanor, and a patient approach to tutoring that caters to your individual skill set. All of this comes at a reasonable price, which can of course be negotiated to suit your budget (remember, I was once a broke college student too). In short: I work with you, for you, and on your terms! I offer tutelage in many technical disciplines: Math, Science, and Engineering are my b ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching has always been my passion. During my tenure as a Lecturer, I corrected assignments, exams and assisted course tutors in the preparation of lessons for individual tutoring sessions. I also coordinated presentations and demonstrations as part of the teaching curriculum.
My teaching is very effective and has helped students a lot. I make sure that the students have understood the fundamentals first. Then I break down the problem into steps and I explain them step by step. This helps students to remember the fundamentals well and they can tackle any difficult problem with ease. In order to make my teaching more effective I use videos and images to give them more insight about the subject.

I'm a chemical engineer and tutor with a strong interest in education. My background includes extensive tutoring and mentoring experience over the last 8 years. I am motivated and patient with students who have trouble grasping mathematical concepts. I have worked with diverse groups of students ranging from third grade to high school and college students. My engineering experience gives me a wealth of applications from which to draw examples and explain how equations work.
My approach encourages lots of practice and uses analogies and examples as frequently as necessary to get a particular point across. I am focused on making the subject matter both comprehensible and routine, with particular emphasis on checking answers and estimation. I will also make the most of technology to aid student understanding and encourage student interaction.

I have two types of degrees, one in Physics and two in Engineering. That enabled me to teach a wide range of subjects. I was a very popular teacher in the four universities in Baghdad. Some of my students are now professors at the US universities.
My teaching style is to make the subject easy for the comprehension of the students. I normally give homeworks. Students must do these homeworks. I judge their understanding from the way they solve the homeworks.

After sub teaching the last couple of years I have found most kids want to learn but need a lot of "structure". If their personal "structure" isn't there it is difficult for them. This is also true for kids who are advanced. I believe in no cell phones, electronic devices, and trying to figure out what each child strengths and weaknesses are and then use those strengths to help them learn. I am not against having background music playing during homework time because it doesn't bother other children. It is a problem however in the classroom.
I am currently waiting for my certification from the Florida Department of Education, to teach math from grades 6 to 12, and chemistry from grades 6 to 12. I was a substitute teacher in the Folsom Cordova School District in California during the 2007-2008 school year. A Little Bit About Me...

During my years in the corporate world, I have trained customers with Basic, Intermediate & Advanced skills in using computers. I have also mentored and lead fellow co-workers and customers with improving their technical skills at work and at home. Helping others to attain and expand their knowledge to improve their lives is very fulfilling and I enjoy it immensely. I've tutored/mentored/trained customers from the ages of two to ninety and I'm ready to make this journey to a more full-time position.
I assess each person's level of understanding to determine the best way to help them learn. Some people can learn visually, some learn better with hands on teaching, verbal instructions work for some and others may need a combination of one or more to grasp the concept of the lesson. One of the most important parts of being a teacher is being able to listen to your students and not ... read more
