In addition I have served as an after school tutor for 4 years with the YMCA and Sylvan Learning Center. I was basketball coach for 2 years for 4th and 5th grade students previously. Serving as an in house substitute provided me with experience working with large groups, as well as working with students on an individual basis. This experience also provided me with the wonderful opportunity to work with students with special needs. To start, I find out what the student is currently studying and what material the student understands. I then use what the student knows to introduce and explain the material the student does not understand. Throughout the process I do my best to make sure the student understands what is being explained and has the ability to solve problems without my guidance.
