A Little Bit About Me...

My first major mentoring/teaching experience occurred in college when I began leading study groups and eventually organizing tutoring sessions with a number of my fellow English, Calculus, and Physics students. Most recently I underwent PADI Divemaster training where I had real world experience teaching and assisting PADI Open Water students with classroom, confined water, and open water training.
My style tends to range based on who I am trying to teach, and I suppose is most accurately labeled as adaptive. I understand that different people learn things in different ways, and so I try to accommodate that with my teaching. Fo ... read more

Not only do I have a willingness to go beyond the normal classroom experience, I challenge myself everyday to strive for the best. By the time I was in seventh grade, I knew I wanted to enter a Dual Enrollment program. I wouldn’t let any obstacle stop me from my desired course. When I attended Robert Morgan, I always felt like I was missing something. I felt like there was so much more that I could accomplish and nothing was standing in my way. I knew what my next goal was; I jumped on board to attend School for Advanced Studies. I love being challenged. I’m intrigued to see how much I could learn, to what extent of your capabilities. Furthermore, I’m currently a full-time Miami Dade Student while taking all Advanced Placement courses such as AP Euro History, AP Calculus, etc. In the past years, I have spent my free time doing service learning at the Miami Dade College Writing Cente work ... read more

With a BA in Psychology from FIU, I have learned how all sorts of children react to different learning environments. I have been tutoring children for about 5 years in all different age ranges and subjects. Though the most common subject I have tutored would be math. I've been working in the Miami Dade public school system for about 2 years as a substitute teacher, where I have taught all sorts of subjects.
With experience in both teaching large class rooms and tutoring one on one; I've learned that each child has a different way of processing information and learning. Though I do believe in two general rules that need to be followed for success in learning. Practice makes perfect and hard work leads to success. Practice makes perfect is especially true when it comes to helping students in math. With this in mind, I do my best to make sure every student is comfortable with the mate ... read more

I am going to graduate in May from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, a minor in Spanish and a completed pre-medical track. This has given me a strong educational background, specifically a vast arsenal of knowledge both in the sciences and mathematics. In the fall of 2006, I became a volunteer teacher for a non-profit organization called Junior Achievement. This organization aims to teach students using a hands-on approach about economics and how it relates to their lives. I was also a participant in a research program entitled "Guided Reading Project" in conjunction with Florida International University during the summer of 2005, where I was responsible for teaching a class of three and four year olds at a local day care. Throughout my high school and college career I have also informally tutored family members, friends and acquaintances in numerous ... read more
