Psychology Professor/Reading Specialist

Over 25 years of teaching experience (all grade levels ~ from preschool to university graduate level courses). I enjoy tutoring, as it allows me to work one-on-one with a student to best assess their strengths and weaknesses in order to help them reach their goals. My doctoral work in Educational Psychology has given me a unique advantage in incorporating learning theory with applied teaching techniques. The chance to tutor peers in high school was the initial spark towards considering education as a career. During my undergraduate studies the desire has grown as I was given the opportunity in the role of Teaching Assistant. I found from those experiences that I have an ability to gauge a student’s comprehension of the material during sessions. This allows me to make adjustments on-the-fly and in the process become more effective in accomplishing the objective.
