I first started tutoring in high school, both privately and as a volunteer. My favorite subjects to tutor were Algebra and Calculus, though I also tutored Spanish, English, and Biology. I had several regular students and additional students during peak times like finals week and AP season. In college, I continued this work in a more formal setting as a lab assistant, teaching assistant, and tutor for the Grinnell College Science Learning Center. The subjects included CHM 130: General Chemistry and CHM 210: Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry.
Tutoring is one of my favorite jobs. I really enjoy helping students understand that they absolutely can understand a subject, and the one-on-one, focused nature of tutoring fits my personality very well.
