I have a B.S. in biology from Augsburg College. I have experience in a wide range of sciences from calculus to immunology. I have research experience in cell biology, genetics, immunology, ecology, microbiology, biochemistry, and developmental. When considering my teaching style, it is difficult to explain a single process for teaching. When working with different people it is important to remain creative, inventive, and patient. Every person has different learning styles and it is important to recognize in that person what helps them understand more fully. Whether it is diagram and pictures, breaking a complex problem into many simple parts, comparing similar examples that are familiar to the person, or simply taking the time to make sure that the child feels comfortable saying "I don't know". All of these are useful tools, but in my opinion by far the most important is patience. Remaining patient when someone doesn't understand is the absolute most important thing. Too many children are willing to give up on a subject, all they need is someone who knows they can do it, and can show them how.

I believe that teaching is not knowing the answers, but understanding how to get to the answers. I am a very organized and patient tutor and have great respect for my students. I believe that with the right tools, any child can learn and improve their understanding. I am a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. My main interests and degree lie in medical sciences.
