When considering my teaching style, it is difficult to explain a single process for teaching. When working with different people it is important to remain creative, inventive, and patient. Every person has different learning styles and it is important to recognize in that person what helps them understand more fully. Whether it is diagram and pictures, breaking a complex problem into many simple parts, comparing similar examples that are familiar to the person, or simply taking the time to make sure that the child feels comfortable saying "I don't know". I believe that teaching is not knowing the answers, but understanding how to get to the answers. I am a very organized and patient tutor and have great respect for my students. I believe that with the right tools, any child can learn and improve their understanding. I know no two students learn in quite the same way, and I am able to adjust my teaching methods to fit a child's needs.
I am a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. My main interests and degree lie in medical sciences. I have a Bachelors of biomedical sciences degree with chemistry and psychology minors. However, I enjoy tutoring a broad range of subjects and having been able to tutor for the past eight years in subjects such as math, science, social studies, English, music, I have been able to maintain a general knowledge of these subjects.
