Some students learn easier with visual aids while some can pick up a lesson better with the hands on experience style and yet a third group will excel with auditory instruction. If at all possible all three styles should be implemented into the same lesson to give each type of learner the same advantage.

As such, I have been to Italy many times, not only on the tourist path, but off that beaten path: in my relatives' dining rooms, at their weddings and funerals, working in their fields harvesting grapes, etc. In college, I majored in Italian, even spending a semester in Rome. I tailor my teaching style to the student's needs. I can teach in the conventional, textbook format. I can teach in a less formal manner, I can prepare someone heading to Italy who needs a crash course in "street" Italian, and prepare one's expectations. I like it to be an interactive process, with a lot of verbal repetition on the student's part.
