A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring people when I was in the eigth grade. I decided I wanted to help out at the school across the street from my middle school in Colorado. I enrolled in a class that allowed us to go and assist the teachers and help the students. I fell in love with kids then for sure. I already knew I liked them because I started babysitting when I was 11 and couldn't stop! Then in ninth grade, a neighbor failed kindergarten and asked if I would starting coming over several days a week to help him understand what was being taught. Needless to say, he made it to the first grade! I now have a 17 year old sister who is constantly asking for my assistance in her homework and it is with great pleasure that I assist her.

A Little Bit About Me...

As, a product of the inner city, I was always interested in helping young people who came through the same path as I. I have a BA, in Broadcast and Communication Arts, and a Masters in Social science in many history subjects. To aid in my teaching abilities, I have work, in Research and Community Development for over thirty years. I have trained young people to go in the community and make presentations particularly around health, for over twenty years.
My teaching style is to engage young people into the developmental process, through empowerment. By allowing young to have a say in their own development, I find it makes them more willing to be open for learning. I am driven by my passion for young people to succeed; and I am always open for incorporating their ideas into the teaching process.
