Russian is one of my top subjects! I have been taking Russian courses since my freshman year of college. During my senior year, I was a Russian apprentice teacher, teaching groups of 8-9 college students the language 3 times per week.

I am very experienced in teaching small groups of college level students. During my senior year of college I was selected to be a Russian apprentice teacher through Kenyon College's Intensive Language Program. I taught students three times per week for approximately an hour each session. I had to go through training for this position, which taught me how to design lessons and utilize teaching tools to help students understand the material. As I am a recent graduate myself, I understand the needs of most students and what it takes to keep them engaged in learning. For example, I frequently used games as memorization tools for students that focused on repetition as a learning aid. In September, I am leaving to take part in the Peace Corps as a teacher of English language in Ukraine. I plan on pursuing teaching as my future career and want to keep building on my experience.

My comments on tutoring Russian : As a teacher of Russian Language and Literature and a native Russian speaker I have many years of experience teaching language and literature in secondary school and tutoring/teaching Russian as a second/foreign language

As a language teacher, I believe in integrated learning. I use strategies to teach all four language skills and culture of the targeted language every lesson. I also think that learning vocabulary is as important as learning listening, speaking, reading and writing. I work with my students on accent reduction as it has lately become a part of the language proficiency test. I customize my lesson courses to meet the needs of every particular student.
I graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester NY, with Master's in Education, majoring in Teaching English to Speakers for who English is not a native language. I love teaching children and adults. It is always fantastic to get to know people by ways of communicating. Dialogs, writing and reading excercises are part of my program. I also expect my students to memorize texts by heart. I always play games with children and make sure that learning becomes fun for them. I try to make sure that we change activities during the lesson, students never get bored during my classes. In our world without borders it is very beneficial to know second language. It is even more beneficial to learn "true Russian pronounciation".
