Hello! My name is Rohan. I am a recent graduate in aerospace engineering. I have been tutoring for over 1 and half years now and currently tutor in Elementary Math, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Pre-calculus. I seemed to adapt those parts where students seem to struggle the most and learned how to cope with communicating easily to them. I tutored college math for two years while I was attending community college. I normally helped athletes prepare for a test, help with online homework, and assess their knowledge by providing other problems for them to work out and check behind them. I also tutored man in the math section of the ASVAB back in the summer of 2012.
I like to have one on one tutoring sessions free from any distractions in order for the student to pay more attention. I try to find videos and tutorials that may better help demonstrate how to work problems on top of how I teach it myself.

I try to find out the learning style of the person I am teaching and use that as my primary teaching style. Some people learn better by hearing, some by reading or seeing and some by doing. I think focusing on the style that the person prefers to learn and then backing it up with the other styles to reinforce what they have learned is the best way for the student to retain the information. I think it is important to include all 3 styles no matter which way the person learns best because they need to be able to learn in the style their other teachers use as well.

I love to see the light-bulb go on inside as children grasp material they are struggling with. At first, I teach and watch to see their facial expressions and comprehension in order to figure out what they are struggling with. Then, I approach the topic from a different way, tailored to their specific struggles. I continue to reassess their comprehension and approach the topic from different angles until I break through. Take algebra, for example. Often times, students struggle with having to "show their work." The long process required to get to the answer becomes confusing. I find that a simpler, shorter process is comprehended well. So, I start with this.
