As a parent of two adult sons, I have had the opportunity to work with youngsters at all stages of their development. In addition, I have always been involved in various young activities including Little League baseball, cub scounts, youth soccer etc. I believe that setting a good example of appropriate behavior helps children to learn positive ways of accomplishing goals. I am a recent graduate of UNCW with a BA in English and a teaching certification in Secondary Education. Currently interning in the Wilmington area, I have been working with 9th and 10th graders in English, developing basic writing and critical reading skills. Over the last four years, I have also tutored in Algebra I, Geometry, History and Science for grades 6-12.

I now teach at Duplin Early College High School and am finishing my first year of teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

I have found a great place in teaching, especially tutoring, due to my desire to help other people. I enjoy walking students through new information and giving them a firm understanding of the concepts and facts. I believe that there is nothing outside of a students grasp. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from western Carolina University, I earned my BS in Criminal Justice in three years and am close to gaining my MS in Human Services. I have been working in the human service field as a case manager/community support worker. Although it is not thought of as a teaching job, I have had the pleasure of teaching children and adults basic skills, academic skills and assisting with homework. Since graduating with my Chemistry degree in 1997, I have volunteered off and on within the classroom, mentoring and tutoring children of all ages. I have several younger siblings and children of my own, so I have taken the many opportunities to go in and out of the classroom as a classroom parent, after school program teacher, guest speaker, and mentor and judge for the Future City competition (an annual engineering competition for middle school children). A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate student, I have successfully tutored a number of undergraduate students. I received my BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry.
