A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been a tutor of sorts. I love to teach kids because of the sparkle they get in their eyes when they finally understand what they are being taught. Each child have a different learning style so I try to work with them to see what works for them. I have worked with kids who have ADD and the gifted. The greatest thing I can teach is that we can teach to create intelligence, but wisdom comes from using all that you know.
I started tutoring in 7th grade back in 1976. I have been tutoring my own kids for over 14 years. I have been a Scout leader for over 9 years. I worked with boys ages 5 to 18 years of age. I have brought 2 learning disabled teens into my home to help them graduate High School. Both have gone on to be Certified Welders. My experiences as an educator have been numerous and continuous throughout my life. I have a Bachelor in Education 1-8th (Science) I have taught all subjects. Actually I am multilingual. I am native Spanish speaker; I can read, write; translate in my language of origin. I also have five years of French, I read and translate better then speaking fluently the reason I really do have anyone to practice speaking the French language. Currently I am teaching myself Farsi (Persian) language, beside Farsi, Japanese. I worked the Berlitz language agency, in which they taught me how to teach any language in the world without really know the language. This method is called the “Berlitz method”

My teaching style is not typical since I am not a certified teacher. I am creative in my teaching style using a variety of techniques. I understand that each child and person learns differently (Auditory, Visual, Tactile) so I try to discover their style and incorporate as much as possible. I try to teach using real life experiences and examples. I break things down into simple parts before moving on to the next level. I believe that it is important to instill confidence in the student which raises expectations and increases motivation. I am very patient with a good sense of humor.
