I have taught for over 30 years in a variety of institutions, but mostly public schools. I am conversant in Spanish and have a broad range of interests and fields of knowledge, including English literature, Math, History, Science, current events and Politics. I have taught grades 3-12, and have experiences teaching all income levels and socio-economic backgrounds.
I am a laid back type of instructor and use my experience and intuition to create unique learning environments for each student. My comments on tutoring English ESOL : I am a native speaker of English and have taught foreign languages for several years.

I love to help people communicate. I believe that learning a foreign language is good for the brain, as it creates new neural pathways and helps us to learn that there is always more than one way to solve any problem.
I earned a M.A. in Japanese language and literature from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to that I was hotel concierge in Hawaii responsible for helping Japanese guests and hotel staff communicate. I worked for Nissin Travel in Columbus, Ohio as a travel agent for Japanese clients. I received a B.A in Japanese language and linguistics from the Ohio State University in 1994. I was an exchange student in 1992 at Kansai Gaidai Foreign Language University. A Little Bit About Me...

After having studied Journalism for three years at Colorado State University, while also taking Spanish as a second major, I decided for the latter as a career path and went to Mexico to study Hispanic-American Language and Literature. After a year of international studies, I returned to Journalism as a reporter for a Spanish-language daily in San Diego. It was not until March 2007 that I finally was given the opportunity to teach as a tutor and later as a substitute at Denver School of Science and Technology in Spanish.
