Teaching is something at which I feel I excel. I feel the best way to learn changes in each individual. Not just children, but adults as well. I never realized exactly why people go into teaching until I gained first hand experience. Teaching is one of the most rewarding things one can do as a profession. During my two-year residency in the country of Peru, I taught English courses to groups of native Spanish-speakers. I have a degree in Spanish from Weber State University and use the Spanish language daily. My wife is currently enrolled in her second year of college Spanish, and I am a constant tutor for her. My teaching style varies depending on the type of students I am teaching to because I believe that each student has a particular learning style that they find easier. I think that it is important to find the types of learning that each student finds easiest to understand, and tailor the course so that it works well with their particular learning abilities. This can easily be done in a classroom setting as well as an individual basis. In either case, while I am teaching I think that it is important to understand the topic we are on before moving to the next one. Slowing down to completely grasp each idea helps students to gain confidence in their learning ability, and actually helps the classroom or individual to progress much faster overall.
