My original interest was teaching instrumental music. Although I changed majors and ultimately graduated with a BS in Computer Science, I have continued my interest in teaching, first by volunteer tutoring during college and later by helping adults learn to speak English. I eventually took an intensive summer course in teaching English to speakers of other languages, following which I spent over three years teaching conversational English in Central Asia. Upon returning to the States I worked for a few years for a literacy council, helping administratively and also teaching workplace English. I continue to play in orchestras and teach string instruments privately. I am in the process of completing a Master's degree in Teaching. I love working with children and with adults. I especially enjoy watching a child's eyes light up when something makes sense. I value the constructivist approach
