I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.

My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : To Be or Not to Be? That is the question. Shakespeare is best understood when seen. Let's discuss this.

Prefer to facilitate learning and provide more hands on activities. Try to connect reading with writing as the two subjects are very much intertwined in the skills they take. Great at teaching across the curriculum to help students in subject areas that require reading of nonfiction

I was taught in my Sweetland Writing Center courses to teach with a non-directive approach, and allow students to do most of the talking and thinking throughout the tutoring session. This is primarily accomplished through the use of leading and probing questions, functioning to spark the student's thinking.
