My comments on tutoring Literature : I only wish I had more time now for literature. I was a voracious reader who succumbed to the demands of life beyond books. I would like an excuse to renew that pursuit while working with students involved in it.

I have taught over 20 years in private & public schools in Hawaii & one summer in Michigan. My experience ranges from elementary to college level. I have also tutored SAT prep in English and math and instructed English As a Second Language for Hawaii Pacific University in their summer exchange programs with Asian countries. During the summers, I teach the Brown Reading Systems at private schools, most recently at I'olani. Student-centered Tutor with lots of patience.

My teaching style is a combination of cooperative and collaborative teaching style. I like to engage my students in various ways of learning. I also instill in my students independent learning by giving them various learning tools to learn on their own.

The best successes come after their greatest disappointments

I like to make my tutoring sessions productive by encouraging students to work hard to complete the taste in order to receive a reward in the form of a game or something they enjoy doing. I am very thorough in correcting assignments and make sure they fully understand the concept they are working on. I am very helpful in stimulating critical thinking for creative writing assignments.

I love working with children and adults!

I am an informal teacher because I do not yet have the experience teaching in a formal setting accept for writing lesson plans for language arts. Otherwise, I am looking forward to working with adults and children on their studies because they need the help.
