I am adept at looking at biological concepts from different perspectives, and as a good teacher I help students understand the material given their unique learning styles. I have worked in biology for over 10 years, and have a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Western Michigan University. I have spent the better part of my life either in school or teaching in one form or another. I highly value both the process of learning and of passing on my knowledge. I tutored fellow students while an undergraduate and after graduation I taught autistic students in math, reading, art, speech therapy and physical education for 5 years. I have 15 years experience in the lab. My educational requirements to be a med tech means I have taken many science and biology classes. I have had oppotunities to subsitute teach at my childrens' school and really enjoyed the experience. I enjoy working with children I get a real thrill when they get the concept/idea that I am instructing them in . I believe that given time and instruction a child that is willing to learn will learn. My teaching style focuses on having an understanding of the student's pre-existing knowledge, and using that as a base on which to create connections to new knowledge.
