I truly enjoy what I do. I love enabling students to achieve their goals, become self sufficient, and successful. I teach to the individual, looking for individual strengths and weaknesses; then modify my approach to meet the needs of the individual student. My goal is to enable the student to be and do their best. I have many years of experience working with students of all ages and abilities. I have taught in public schools, in private schools, with troubled and behavior problem youth, incarcerated youths (13-20 years of age), as well as home-schooled students, small group, and one-on-one. I have tutored students in all levels of math, science, English, Spanish, social studies, and history. I also have experience with SAT and ACT prep.

I graduated with my master's three years ago, so I haven't had any actual teaching, but I have tutored for the community college where I live. I tutored essay writing and some math. I was also certified as a tutor through our community college. In college I taught certain subjects, but just for part of certain classes. I am presently tutoring on line also. As an older student I was very driven to achieve a high level of excellence in my education, hardly ever missing a class. I earned my bachelor's degree from Oregon State University, taking mainly writing and literature. In my master's program I did a lot of writing classes and I focused mainly on publishing, and subjects such as editing and grammar. Instead of taking Spanish, I took statistics. I would say that my style is one of direction. Helping students find answers, teaching them how to research for the answers and developing paths of choices to determine which one to take and determining the outcome of that choice or the alternatives. I feel better challenging them to use their thinking skills, their cognitive processing skills & decision making skills. Every child, I believe, learns differently and a good tutor or teacher, takes the time to find that out for the student(s) they are working with. Success is important for growth, independence and adulthood. I have over 20 years experience in training individuals in materials related to their employment & career preparation.
