A Little Bit About Me...

I try to take a hands-on approach to teaching when possible. I find it helpful to use varied and often unusual objects and materials when teaching a lesson; it tends to make the material more memorable. However I am not above using the standard pencil/paper/textbook approach when needed.
I consider myself to be a "beginner" teacher as I have recently graduated college and received my license. I have spent roughly 500 hours in the field as a result of college course requirements, and I have successfully completed a 12 week internship (student teaching) experience. I have had the opportunity to work in many different subject areas and classroom settings with students of various backgrounds, ages, and learning styles.

I love working with children of all ages and I believe that all children should have an equitable education. Because of the skills and abilities I possess in reading I have been able to help my own child achieve beyond her grade level and she is currently in the gifted program for reading. Because I am a school counselor by profession I make sure that I always listen to students and help them overcome any obstacles they may face.
