More About This Tutor...

I believe every child learns differently, and that the presentation of information must vary on a constant basis. In order to keep attention of learners, new techniques and methods must be constatnly implemented to actively teach students. I feel that students learn best when they trust their instructor, and feel secure in there environment.
After college graduation in 2006, I subsitute taught for a year in Pennsylvania for a year before moving to Maryland to persue a permanent teaching career. I taught technology education in grades 6-8 before moving to West Virginia to start a family. My degree is in the field of technology education, but I also hold an additional certification in middle school math. I feel confident in my abilities to tutor math of all ages, as well as physics classes.

A Little Bit About Me...

Math is learned by doing, but in attempting to do something you haven't really learned yet you're probably going to get stuck. A math tutor's job is to get you unstuck (or in some cases get you started). Sometimes that's just pointing out mistakes, and sometimes there's a weak spot in your background that needs cleared up before you can go any further. It's not easy, but I think anyone can learn math, even advanced math, but you have to start with a solid foundation. My teaching approach for other subjects is somewhat different, but still mostly consists of alternating between explaining/demonstrating and assisted practice.
I have earned two bachelor degrees from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, a BS in Mathematics and a BS in Computer Science. I received an A in every math class that I took including but not limited to statistics, linear algebra, multi-variable ca ... read more

Here is Some Good Information About Calculus I Tutoring

Does just the mention of Calculus make you start to shake? Do differential equations, multiple integrals, exponentials and logarithms make your head spin? Peers and study groups are great if the student simply needs to review or study for a calculus test. However, if the student is struggling and needs the expertise of a professional then hiring a qualified and educated tutor specifically in calculus is what the student needs. Continuing to struggle without professional assistance will only put the student farther and farther behind. It is our job to provide the help the student needs when they need it.
