Creative, energetic tutor with special needs experience

I like to get to know the student and individualize the tutoring to his or her learning style and interests. I can incorporate physical and creative activities into the academic subjects if desired.
I homeschooled a gifted third grader, including administering standardized end-of-grade test, for 1 year. I have tutored homeschooled first and third graders in math, reading, writing, social studies, and art for the last 6 months. I tutored a 8-12-year-old with autism spectrum for 4 years. I provided respite for children with disabilities for several years. I have coached Special Olympics swimming for 11 years for teens and adults. I have informally given piano lessons. Drawing is one of my top subjects!

I usually start off teaching the student basic utensil knowledge and slowly branch into oils from acrylic, first with no color so they will learn to see temperature. After we will learn the importance of white and how to not overuse such a strong hue. After this we will work from still-lives and also self-portraiture.
I have been painting for 6+ years and am very willing to share my knowledge of the tricky medium to anyone willing to learn it. Oils are my forte however I've worked in most other mediums a time or two. My current work is fully abstract but I have plenty of images of works that show my technical expertise.

My comments on tutoring Drawing : I have a degree in studio art and art history.

I begin by observing the person. In which areas are they confident and strong? In which areas are they fearful and using avoidance? I then find a bridge from their place of confidence to their place of fear and coax them across until they are happily skipping across.
