Being raised in a home with educators greatly influenced who I am, and how I view the building of knowledge. While I earned my B.S in psychology and minored in business, I participated in after school tutoring programs for a local public school. My studies of child development and the neuropsychology involved in learning helped immensely as I pursued my graduate degree in the college of education. I approach teaching and tutoring as an exercise in problem solving. It requires assessment of the student's background, previously mastered skills, learning style, and engagement with the content. I believe that anyone can be taught anything; the key is developing an engaged, encouraged student with the fundamental knowledge to grasp the concepts at hand.
