Excellent, Engish-1st-Language Math, Science & Music teacher

I am a laid-back, personable and practical instructor with a knack for simplifying math terminology down to everyday language, skilled at translating what appears to be a complicated concept into it's most basic, understandable form. I attempt to explain why something works the way it does because a student having that understanding will help him or her retain and be able to use the concept. I start with a discussion of the subject matter from a big picture perspective, to underscore the significance of the issue from an overall business management perspective. I move on to a discussion of definitions and fundamental concepts. I tend to communicate graphically, and enjoy drawing diagrams and charts. Prior to graduating from the Ohio State University with a degree in World Economics & Business, I interned with the Godman Guild Association. Working for the Youth and Family Services department, I collaborated with counselors in an after-school mentoring program designed to promote self-sufficiency and leadership development for 100-plus underprivileged teens. My most recent position as an English Teaching Assistant in France enhanced my communication skills ten-fold. This experience taught me to effectively convert difficult subject matter into simple and comprehensible explanations which could be understood by educationally-diverse groups of students.
