Certified Teacher Looking To Help Others As A Tutor

I prefer to have materials prepared prior to any tutoring session so communication ahead of time will be essential. If I have an idea of what is expected of me then I am able to help modify the session to fit the learner. I like to use both direct teach as well as discussion to help guide the tutoring session.

Special Education is one of my top subjects! I have been a special education teacher for 15 years and a special education administrator for 5 years. I have worked with students that have struggle severely with learning. I am very patient and will try many techniques until children learn in their style of learning. I believe the key is to help children find the way that they learn best so they can then use that method to make learning easier moving forward.

I believe my patience and creativity allows children to feel comfortable with their own learning needs. I work with them and help them find their unique learning style. We then build on that style to build their confidence and ability. All children can learn once we find their unique learning "channel".
I have been a Special Education Teacher for 15 years and an administrator for 5 years. I have taught at both the elementary, intermediate and high school levels. I have worked with students who have been severely cognitively disabled and those that have had multiple attention and behavioral concerns. I believe that learning and success are possible for all children, but they are the result of time and patience. I feel high expectations are important, yet I'm careful not to frustrate the lower achievers. If a teacher encourages learning and makes it worthwhile, I believe that the learning process will flourish. Children learn in different ways.
