I have been teaching 8th grade math(pre-Algebra,Algebra,Geometry) for 10 years. I have been very successful in improving students scores. Last year my pre-algebra students made a growth of 6.55 according to Evaas score data. This was on of the highest scores achived across the state.The students worked hard under my stewardship to achieve this growth.The greater part of the credit goes to these students. I also spent time in tutoring groups; one on one with some kids who were struggling with some specific math concepts,for some of them this was the first time they avoided summer school before being promoted in their life. I generally teach through visual aids and through very thorough explanations. If the student doesn't understand the first time I explain something, I will explain it in a different way and will keep explaining it in different ways until he/she fully understands what's being taught. I try my hardest to teach by explaining concepts logically and showing WHY and HOW, rather than simply saying something is what it is "just because."
I have always been an honors student and am currently taking the highest levels of math (AP Calculus) and spanish (Spanish 5) at my high school.
