I have a background in study skills and educating others, as well as excellent communication skills and a lot of patience. I have done four years of math and chemistry (respectively) during high school, including elementary calculus and quantum mechanics. My academic experience in both Chemical Engineering (BS) and Biomedical Engineering (MS) have given me strong background in math and sciences. As an undergraduate, I was fortunate to be part of a Chemical Engineering mentor program where I tutored underclassmen in the fundamentals of engineering. While working on my PhD. I was a graduate teaching fellow for the Dept. of Ed. Teacher-Scholar program. I supervised undergraduates in organic chemistry labs, graded exams, led recitation sections and graded homework for both organic and general chemistry lecture courses. I developed and presented a chemistry class for HP technicians, and was the HP Education Liaison for the University of Oregon. I spent two years teaching and tutoring Autistic children. I aided in routine skills, verbal skills and dealing with change. I have worked with two different children on these skills. I also have extensive skills in writing and researching for my research papers. I also have great knowledge of APA format and can write an essay in no time flat.
I love working with children. I have helped with pre-K and grade school children with an emphasis on working with Autistic children. All children can succeed in school given the right tools; just because they do not get the idea from one method does not mean that they won't get it from a different method. I think that all children can learn regardless of age, learning ability or other status, if given a chance.
