A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. I tutored privately for three years from 2005-2008 in south Los Angeles County and north Orange County, CA. I can provide recommendations from these clients if you are interested. My youngest students were in first grade with my oldest students attending college.

I was a tutor at Lawrence Tech. University as a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. We provided tutoring help to fellow students at LTU. I was also a tutor at Macomb Community College (Center Campus) during the years 1997 and 1998. I was a math and physics tutor in the Center Campus learning center. The tutoring was mainly for community college students and occasionally high school students attending Macomb. Additionally, I would help a friend who was teaching at Wayne State or LTU by teaching one or 2 days of a course for him when he was on vacation.
I really enjoy teaching at the college level or high school level to students. I make a real effort to help them better understand math and physics. These are my favorite subjects to teach so it is an enjoyable experience.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Oakland University in 2008 with a BS in Biology and a minor in French. Since then, I have been working on research assignments with a bariatric surgeon from the Detroit Medical Center. The last four years, I have tutored students in the first grade and third through eleventh grade levels. In my experience, I have helped students in English, reading comprehension, all branches of the sciences, mathematics and French. My teaching style is very unique because I tend to simplify the understanding process of mathematical analysis. I feel that I can teach anyone from 1st grade up to the college level. But I never do the problems for the student. Instead, I guide them through the problem so the student will learn first hand how to solve calculations step by step.
While I was going to school I became a student tutor in the areas of calculus, physics and chemistry. Most were just help with the basic calculations and the understanding of simple fundamentals.

My passion is in watching others to succeed, and I am willing to change my own methods to make that happen. Thus, my tutoring style depends almost entirely on the student as I have found that the most common reason a tutor is needed is that the student's learning style does not match with the teacher's teaching style. The one thing that I observed about the learning process, is that a person quickly grasps a concept if he/she is interested, or the topic is thoughtful and challenges the wit of a person and lastly, a person is very comfortable in learning through his/her friends. Nobody is stupid not to grasp a concept. It is the methodology, technique and feeling of comfort and interest, that is required. Hence I try to be affable and was more involved. A picturization or a real life example is more likely to fit in a person's mind. I used this technique and was very successful. With this regard, about 70% of my class scored 90% and above in their respective examinations.
