I've also taught classes on Management of Aggressive Behavior / Appled Non-Violence to mental health professionals throughout the Las Vegas Valley and surrounding communities. I also worked as teacher assistant in the mental health setting working with special needs students. I've worked as a Literacy Tutor at CSN in which I developed and implemented lesson plans for a class of eleven students at the middle school . I have my Teaching credentials through NV Dept. of Education as Certified Substitute Teacher ( K- 12 ). I currently substitute/guest teach within the CCSD.

My comments on tutoring Sociology : Although I only took two semesters of Sociology in college, they were taught by a very intense and demanding professor who assigned a lot of work and books to read, and formulated incredibly difficult exams, I aced both classes, and tutored Sociology for over 10 years. So basically, I believe I a more than qualified to teach the subject more than competently.

Extremely Interactive and Student-Specific Methods Tailored to each Student's Needs & Goals
I consider myself to be a uniquely seasoned, qualified, and experienced tutor who can adapt to any situation and to any student in order to benefit their education and learning experience. Due to my ability to teach and tutor children and adults of all ages, (in addition to my own near-perfect scores on the SAT & ACT) I was one of the first Instructors hired by PrepExpert, a national company that specializes in preparing students for the SAT, ACT, AP, other exams, and simply for help in regular classes at all levels. This company is so successful and growing so fast because of the unparalleled improvements among students that it recently appeared on ABC's show "Shark Tank," during which Mark Cuban was impressed enough to buy a substantial stake in the company and is a current partner. During my five years of undergraduate work, I was very involved in the area of child education and care. I was a volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Wisconsin, where I worked on elementary basic skills and study skills with an eight year old boy with autism. I also tutored a ten year old boy and a six year old boy in all general areas of study during my summers, with an emphasis on reading comprehension, grammar, and organization and study skills. My studies at the Universite de Caen Basse-Normandie, in Normandy, France, enhanced both my comprehension and my expression of the French language to the point where I would be confident teaching the building blocks of the language to children at the elementary, middle, or high school level. I currently work at Easter Seals of Southern Nevada Early Intervention Program as a Child Developmental Specialist. I provide what is called "speci ... read more

My teaching style is somewhat relaxed so that I can encourage my students to open up. When I first begin tutoring someone I let them do things their way rather than tell them how to do something. Then, I tell them that if their method isn't working, we will try it my way. In addition to teaching them the material, I try to pass off good studying habits as well. For example, rather than help a student write a paper by simply editing their paper, I try to show the student how helpful brainstorming is, and/or how to create an efficient, simple outline. I also try to find at least one thing a student is good at and encourage him in that area. Once a student realizes he is good at something, he feels more confident in other areas as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style can be described in two words: persistent and patient. I believe that the reason why a student may seem disinterested in education is due to fear of not understanding the subject, embarrassment of failure, and/or lack of self-motivation or focus. But all of these can be overcome with a persistent tutor who does not give up on the student, and who is patient to understand that the student just needs more time and work. I believe that all students have the potential to accomplish goals and triumph over any learning impediments. During the last two years that I have been tutoring I have thoroughly enjoyed helping students to overcome impediments and improve their skills.
As a recent college graduate, I uphold and advocate the educational experience as an essential part of life. It not only expands our mental capabilities, but also builds confidence into individuals. ... read more

I have been a substitute teacher for the school district for 4years now. I have taught in a variety of settings including, but not limited to severe special ed, autism, ADHD, K-6 grades in diversifed settings.
I am a patient person and I feel that is very important in any learning environment.
