A Little Bit About Me...

I began teaching/tutoring while in graduate school. I tutored undergrads in sociology, psychology, and social statistics. I also taught driver's education to high school students while in grad school. After ten years working in law enforcement, I switched to social services and I have been mentoring children in foster care for the past twenty years.
I try to keep the material fresh and I avoid boredom and repetition at all costs. One of my best tools to connect with a young person is through humor. If the student feels relaxed they are more likely to absorb the information. I also use reverse psychology to turn the tables so they actually find themselves teaching me the material. This has been a successful tool with children I have mentored as well as my own children.

This was a blessing in disguise because it taught me not only to learn different ways to tutor a student, but also to figure out through body language and little signals as to whether or not they were actually comprehending the information. Teaching is not just giving information and hoping they retain it. A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring high school and college students in 1986. I have 6 children of my own who I have raised and taught science and mathematics. I worked 2 years as an adjunct professor at the University of Florida and was a volunteer instructor at Brigham Young University. I speak Japanese fluently and am semi fluent in German.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring peers since before high school in math and science and as I have gotten older I have continued tutoring peers, colleagues, college, high school and middle school students. In addition to tutoring, I have been teaching off and on throughout my entire college and graduate school careers. I started teaching general chemistry labs in 1998 while I was a student at Mercer University and continued teaching until I graduated in 2001.
