An intellectual and goofy tutor looking to help out.

I don't any paid, professional tutoring experience. However, I have volunteered my services to family members and friends. During my sophomore year, I took Organic Chemistry and excelled. However, my friends were struggling. They hated me a bit for how easy it came to me. I decided to tutor them and help them with homework assignments and studying. They ended up doing very well on the exams, allowing them to secure a 3.0 or higher in the course. I also had to regular help my classmates out with more complex problems in Physics. I was not so much tutoring as working together with them on the homework, but still, it involved clear explanation and a thorough knowledge of the subject matter.

My style of teaching is entirely dependent upon the needs of each student. My abilities and skills are highly adaptable to the needs each student faces. I believe that each student has a certain type of intelligence. My goal when working with students is to fully describe the steps necessary to solving various classes of problems, often in an outline form, for it is in learning these steps that a student becomes an independent learner. I like to work through as many examples as the student needs, gradually working them into the problem-solving process, until they are able to work a few completely on their own, or, in some way, demonstrate understanding of the material.
