To be honest I do not really have any experience of being a tutor. I am a senior at Reagan High school and for the most part I tutor other classmates and family members. Learning Math can be FUN!

With over 35 years experience teaching math, I have successfully taught students from third grade through college calculus. I have worked in the school system for 14 years. I have been a Teacher, Teacher Assistant, Substitute Teacher, a Lead Teacher in a Child Care Center, and a Director of a Center. I have worked with all ages. I have worked with babies all the way through high school. I have worked with general education and special education. I am pretty easy going when it comes to not knowing, but I do not play when it comes to school. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. If you don't use it then you will lose.

Experienced math tutor.

It depends on the student and what they are doing. If all they need is practice, then I will let the student do all of the work, interjecting only to give advice or to correct a mistake if the student does not catch it themselves. If needed, I will work out similar problems. If the student needs help understanding, I first go in depth why it works and why you do what you do. I then give concrete examples to demonstrate it so that the why makes sense and comes together with the actual application. Then I have the student practice to make sure they truly understand. If needed, I will become creative and come up with different ways of looking at problems so that they can make sense. But no matter what I try to have fun. The best way to learn is to have fun, and if you aren't enjoying yourself you probably won't be receptive to learning.
